Watercolor is one of my favorite mediums and it was fun to experiment with. It was challenging because I had to wait for each part to dry to do the next.

"Untitled" by Taylor Chomeau, Grade 9, Gibraltar
I painted this piece in watercolor to represent the ocean. I wanted to paint a cluster of overlapping fish so it looks like it is popping off the page to the viewers.

"Tiger Fish" by Emmaly Bertges, Grade 10, Gibraltar
This painting is a fish beyond the border. I enjoyed painting this because it was difficult and beautiful.

"Untitled" by Rae Jungwirth, Grade 9, Gibraltar
I chose to paint a whale shark because I am intrigued by ocean life. I drew a scuba diver because I love to scuba dive and I've seen many pictures of scuba divers swimming fearlessly by whale sharks.

People littering has a negative effect on nature, so I decided to recycle a few items into art. To brighten your day.

"Untitled" by Bridget Tepe, Grade 7, Gibraltar
I was inspired to do this by the scene in my backyard. The woods. I loved how the trees and flowers and animals looked through my phone lens. I felt so free and happy surrounded by nature and I wanted to capture the moment. I also wanted to try to get different perspectives and angles into my shots, something I’ve never done before.

I was looking for an idea and looked out my window so I took a picture and tried to draw the picture the same way.

"Tree" by Will Anschutz, Grade 6, Gibraltar
Even things in nature can make some of the most beautiful wonders of nature.

"Nature Art Circle" by Christopher Orstead, Grade 8, Gibraltar
My connection with nature is walking our property and these are a few of the things that remind me of that. That is why I chose to incorporate them into my art.

“Blooming Crocus” by Callie Kraemer, Grade 10, Sturgeon Bay High School
The crocus flowers are the first to bloom in my garden, which makes them my family's first sign of spring. Their bold purple color stands out from the rest of the garden in the early spring, making them that much more inspiring.

“Ridges Sanctuary Marsh” by Callie Kraemer, Grade 10, Sturgeon Bay High School
Last summer I visited the Ridges Sanctuary in Baileys Harbor. The wildlife was absolutely beautiful. This photo is of my favorite spot there.

“Nature Walk” by Annika Olson, Grade 9, Sturgeon Bay High School
I decided to take the second photo because I just really wanted to show off how something like a pile of rocks can be so simple and just beautiful just there in the woods.

“fall sky“ by Annika Olson, Grade 9, Sturgeon Bay High School
Well I decided to take the first photo because of the sky and how the different colors and the puffy fall clouds and it was just a beautiful night to take a photo.

“Sunset” by Adolfo Arvizu, Grade 11, Sturgeon Bay High School
This photo I was walking with my brothers and I looked out into the distance and saw this magnificent image. I knew I had to stop and take a picture.

“Rough Waters” by Gordon Hodges, Grade 11, Sturgeon Bay High School
At Cave Point on an icy morning, I turned the opposite direction of where everyone else was taking photos and was astonished to see the trees on the bluff were covered in ice. I waited until two waves collided to capture the image.

“Icy Sticks” by Gordon Hodges, Grade 11, Sturgeon Bay High School
I noticed a bush covered in ice, zoomed in on it, and captured the image. I edited the background in Photoshop to provide more contrast and make the image more dramatic. The photo was taken at Cave Point the day after a freezing windstorm.

"Coincidence" by CJ Fairchild, Grade 12, Sturgeon Bay High School
The second photo is kind of funny. I was working with my dad and he was asking me how to use his camera on his new Iphone. I took a picture of the dashboard with things on it and just simply changed the filter. I would call it "Coincidence" because it just turned out to be a good picture. When I look at the picture now I think of summer and how I would be in that truck almost ever day with my dad. I get to only have one more summer of it and then I am gone.

"New Beginnings" by CJ Fairchild, Grade 12, Sturgeon Bay High School
When I took the sunset photo something upsetting happened to me that day. I would call it something like "New Beginnings" because I had a wake up call that day. I was by the quarry and I saw the sunset and wanted to get a really cool photo and I walked about on top of the rocks and snapped a quick photo. Nothing edited about it, just took it the way it is. It makes me a little sad to see this photo because it reminds me of a time that isn't here anymore. What I did learn is that I can build from it and only move forward.

“Sunrises and Cave Stones” by Evian Torres, Grade 12, Sturgeon Bay High School
The last photo is my most recent. A couple days ago I drove back out to cave point at 5am to get pictures of the sunrise. I had heard nothing but amazing things about the sunrise view there so I decided to get a glimpse for myself. It was absolutely beautiful, and I ended up capturing this photo at just the right time. The sun was in an ideal location. And the reflection of the sunlight off the cave walls made the photo ten times better!

“Rocky Waves” by Evian Torres, Grade 12, Sturgeon Bay High School
The second picture of the water was very recently taken. I drove out to cave point on a very cold afternoon to check out the waves. It was very cloudy so the best shots I was going to be be able to take, were going to be of the caves and the water surrounding. Timing was very key in this photo. I waited until just the right wave hit.

“Sundown” by Evian Torres, Grade 12, Sturgeon Bay High School
The first picture of the sunset had come the night after school had been let out last school year. I decided to go on a bike ride from town to the stone quarry to get a view of the sunset. It was very crowded so I decided to hold the camera higher where I was able to capture one of my favorite pictures I’ve ever taken.

“Good morning sun” by Ethan Pabich, Grade 10, Sturgeon Bay High School
This picture was taken in Fort Lauderdale in February. I took it because the morning sun was beating down on me after leaving a very cold Wisconsin.

“Serenity” by Logan Thompson, Grade 11, Sturgeon Bay High School
My inspiration behind this shot was to capture the edge of the coast, and focus on the large body of water that surrounded it. To me the location felt similar to the cliffs of dover although not quite as high up, but It felt that way for me.

“My friend in the sunlight” by Claire Tellstrom, Grade 12, Sturgeon Bay High School
I liked the light and how it framed my good friend.

“bench” by Saylor Clement, Grade 11, Sturgeon Bay High School
I guess please inspired me was that I have a backyard with lot of overgrown plants causes the sun to peek through in a unique way which is why I chose that angle, and the bench I believe added an inorganic contrast to the photo.

"Flower girl" by Liz Comstock, Grade 11, Sturgeon Bay High School
I took this picture because she was in such awe of the flowers that I wanted to freeze that moment in time to forever remember her favorite flower.

"Monarch Butterfly Migration" by Violet Jackson, Grade 4, Southern Door

"Monarch Butterfly Project" by Kylee Starr, Grade 4, Southern Door
I really like nature because it is really relaxing. It is relaxing because of the animal sounds.

"Monarchs On The Way" by Kadince Shefchik, Grade 4, Southern Door
Art is a whole different world that you can pour your creativity into. When I created this art, I felt safe and calm. When I create art I go into my imagination and use my creativity to come up with something unique and beautiful. When I do art I get a vacation from the real world. With all that’s happening I need to calm down and do my own thing. The world is full of art and some of that art is not in a perfect frame it also is in your backyard. Art doesn’t need to be on paper it can be trees or grass.

"The Monarch" by Jordan Fish, Grade 4, Southern Door
I made thus picture to try and show people how pretty the monarch butterflies are. They need our help to save them, because they are endangered. Please help save the monarchs!

"Butterfly Projec"t by Brandy Blasier, Grade 4, Southern Door
I love nature when butterflies are out because you can see all their pretty colors and beauty.
