Door County Talks: Ancient Roots: Connecting Our Shared Histories

Presented by DCA in partnership with University of Wisconsin – Green Bay and The Door County Civility Project

To offer a safer environment for our patrons, artists, employees, volunteers and community, we have implemented the following requirements for everyone attending a DCA-presented show or event. (Gibraltar Schools and Community Partner events will follow their own protocols for events held at DCA.) Mask requirement: Everyone (ages 3+) in attendance must wear a face mask that covers nose and mouth throughout the building.Proof of vaccination, negative COVID-19 test, or recovery from COVID-19:
• Patrons (ages 12+) must provide proof that their COVID-19 vaccination status is fully up-to-date, which includes having received a booster, if eligible.
• Patrons not vaccinated are required to show proof of a negative COVID-19 lab test result from within 72 hours prior to entry.
• Patrons who have recovered from a COVID-19 infection may present proof of a positive test result from the past 14 to 90 days.
• Documentation of vaccination status or test results must be shown with a valid photo ID upon entry to the venue.
The following are acceptable as proof of COVID-19 vaccination:
• A physical vaccination card (which includes name of person vaccinated, type of vaccine and date of last dose administered), or
• A photo of a vaccination card as separate document, or
• A photo of the attendee’s vaccine card stored on a phone or electronic device, or
• Documentation of vaccination from a healthcare provider electronic health record or state Immunization Information System record.
• Verifiable vaccination records added to your smartphone via Apple’s Health and Wallet apps, or Android’s Google Pay app.
The following are acceptable as proof of COVID-19 test results:
• Printed documentation from the test provider or laboratory, or an email or text message displayed on a phone or electronic device from the test provider or laboratory.
• The information provided needs to include name of person tested, type of test performed and date of negative lab test result (date must be within 72 hours).
• Also accepted is Proof of Recovery from COVID-19, in the form of a positive laboratory test result (from between 14 and 90 days ago).
• Children without a photo ID must be accompanied by a guardian.
Ticket holders who do not wish to wear a face mask and those who are unable to show proof of vaccination, a negative COVID-19 test, or recovery from COVID-19, may obtain a ticket refund by contacting the Box Office at 920-868-2728.
In addition to vaccination and mask requirements, DCA has made the following updates to its facility and operations:
• Provided hand sanitation stations throughout the building
• DCA’s HVAC system was upgraded by Gibraltar Schools. Ionization bars were installed within the air handlers and outside air damper (fresh air) was increased. Filters in the HVAC system were upgraded from MERV 7 to 13.

As homesteaders, Pitaepanuhkiw and Waqnahwew Grignon have been reconnecting to their cultural inheritance through the land, plants, and wildlife on their ancestral homelands. They recognize that their connections to their Indigenous roots come in many forms, from their language journey to the stories of their people. They will share some of their journey and invite cultural exchange with the Door Community.
More about the 2022 DOOR COUNTY TALKS SERIES
Door Community Auditorium joins forces with University of Wisconsin – Green Bay’s First Nations Program and The Door County Civility project to present the 2022 Door County Talks Series. This year’s series will explore the histories, geographies, and cultures, past and present, of four of our regions’ First Nations: Oneida (February 12), Potawatomi (February 19), Menominee (March 5), Ho-Chunk (March 12).
The 2022 Door County Talks will be presented in-person for a live audience, and livestreamed on our Facebook Page. The events are free (donations are encouraged), but registration is required for those choosing to attend the lectures in person. As we continue to exercise caution, there will be no coffee and pastry service for the in-person events, and we request that patrons leave at least two seats between them and non-household members. To register for the in-person Door County Talks events, please call our box office at (920) 868-2728. The format for each talk is as follows: Doors open at 9:30 a.m. The first segment of the talk will last from approximately 10-10:45, followed by a short break. The second segment and Q&A will last from approximately 11:05 a.m.-12 p.m. This year—to allow for more spacing than our fireside lobby affords—the talks will be held on the Auditorium’s main stage.
