In celebration of Earth Day, Gibraltar students created artwork using recycled materials. They found things that were destined for a landfill or recycle center and put them to use to create their artwork. During this project many students reflected on how great it felt to save something from the trash pile and give it a new life!
The grade 7 students in Laura Meikle’s art class reflected their thoughts on the future of the earth as it relates to technology and cyborgs. They also used their imagination to create Steampunk-style art. Steampunk is a genre of science fiction that has a historical setting and typically features steam-powered machinery rather than advanced technology.
In Emily Salm’s high school art classes, students found recycled materials to create 3-D works of art! Several of their projects were submitted to the Miller Gallery high school exhibit in Sturgeon Bay.
