On Saturday, November 28, Door Community Auditorium (DCA) will ring in the holiday season with a performance by acclaimed Minnesota vocal ensemble Cantus entitled Voices of Christmas.
In Voices of Christmas, the men of Cantus will combine the words, stories, and wisdom of people from all walks of life with music that is sure to awaken the holiday spirit. Joining old and new carols with holiday favorites, a performance by Cantus is the perfect way to evoke the joy and magic of the Christmas season.
The “intellectually, emotionally and musically rich” (Star Tribune) nine-member men’s vocal ensemble Cantus is known worldwide for its trademark warmth and engaging performances. The Washington Post describes Cantus as having both “exalting finesse” and “expressive power” and hails the “spontaneous grace” of its music-making. The Star Tribune says Cantus performs with “raw and aching beauty.”
Cantus is the winner of the prestigious Margaret Hillis Award for Choral Excellence from Chorus America. The ensemble enjoys an active schedule of national tour dates, subscription concerts in its hometown of Minneapolis/St. Paul, educational outreach programs, and multiple recordings.
Cantus’ performance is made possible by presenting sponsor Main Street Market and major sponsor Wisconsin Public Radio. You may also bring a new, unwrapped toy for Toys for Tots, as DCA will be collecting toys through the entire holiday season.
