Door Community Auditorium (DCA) has announced a date change for the performance by eclectic piano rocker Ben Folds. The concert, which was previously scheduled for July 7, will now take place on Friday, July 8, due to personal circumstances on the part of the artist.
Multi-platinum-selling singer/songwriter/producer Ben Folds first found mainstream success as the leader of critically acclaimed trio Ben Folds Five. The Southern piano man has gone on to lead a vastly successful solo career, recording multiple studio albums, a pair of live records, a remix record, music for film and TV, and collaborations with artists from Sara Bareilles to William Shatner. He also appeared from 2009-2013 as a judge on NBC’s a cappella singing contest The Sing Off. Offstage, Folds has also become known as a vocal advocate for arts and music education.
AllMusic calls Folds’s music “tremendously agile…keenly memorable.”
Most recently, Folds has delved into the classical arena, collaborating with New York City chamber ensemble yMusic on his new album So There. This is the latest step in a career that has been constantly innovative and evolving; NPR says Folds “constantly hones his craft by taking unexpected paths.” No matter what new genre he explores, Ben Folds retains his trademark creativity, accessibility, and vaunted knack for hook and harmony.
According to Paste, Ben Folds is “a songwriter whose greatest attribute is his fearlessness in creating.”
Ben Folds’s concert is made possible with support from major sponsors Al Johnson’s Swedish Restaurant and Butik, as well as 106.9 The Lodge and Rewind 97.7, and from supporting sponsors Main Street Market, Ministry Door County Medical Center, and Peninsula Pulse.
Ben Folds will perform at DCA at 8 p.m. on Friday, July 8. Tickets for the concert range from $75 to $98. Advance reservations are recommended and can be made through the DCA box office, located at 3926 Highway 42 in Fish Creek. The box office is open Monday-Friday, 12-5 p.m. Tickets can be purchased in person, on the phone at (920) 868-2728, or online at www.dcauditorium.org.
